We've blogged before about the increasingly fuzzy line between consumer and business technology, an especially notable trend in the SMB market.
Plenty of other folks are making this observation, from research firm Gartner to Cisco CEO John Chambers. That fuzziness is prompting Cisco to eliminate the brand name of Linksys, the maker of consumer networking gear it bought in 2003.
Though no specific date was given for the change, Chambers indicates in a video clip included with endgadget coverage of the news that it should happen soon.
While Cisco kept the Linksys name because it was better known among U.S. consumers, the company apparently sees little reason to preserve the brand as it broadens its marketing message to a more global audience.
