How Windows 10 Will Benefit the Mobile Enterprise

Created for small to midsize businesses (SMBs), Lenovo’s latest lines of laptops and desktops provide streamlined designs and upgrades in power and performance. The new lines include the ThinkPad E-Series laptops and S-Series all-in-one desktops, which ITProPortal describes as “wallet friendly.”

The E-Series laptops come in either 14-inch or 15.6-inch sizes, all with anti-glare screens and 16GB of memory. These E-Series ThinkPads are Energy Star 6 compliant and have received an EPEAT Gold certification that shows they are better for the environment and save on electricity usage. These laptops will provide up to 9 hours of battery usage—that is a full workday—along with USB, Ethernet and HDMI ports. Lenovo will also offer optional SSDs, discrete graphics cards and fingerprint security as add-ons.

As the Canadian Reviewer explained, SMBs seek tools to lessen IT “headaches” and bring about increased collaboration and productivity among workers both inside and outside of the office. These companies also need data security and protection that isn’t going to break their budgets. Dilip Bhatia, vice president of PC design and marketing for Lenovo, said:

“Small business users want to be mobile and secure and seek reliable high-performance computing to work on their terms. Laptops for total mobile flexibility with excellent battery life or stylish desktops to meet the rigorous tasks of today’s office and retail environments. Our latest range of products designed for small businesses deliver on all fronts and offer customers peace of mind with class-leading security features, renowned reliability and performance options giving them the freedom to work how they want.”

The SMB-targeted desktops include the new S-Series all-in-ones. Lenovo says the S200 is a typical tower desktop that provides upgradability, while the S500 is “26 percent smaller than typical small factor desktops,” which might be better for smaller offices or certain retail-type stores where space is a factor.

All of the S-Series desktops include full-HD displays in 19.5 inch, 21.5 inch or 23 inch sizes, and all run the latest Windows 10 OS. Optional perks include touchscreens that provide the full Windows 10 experience.

Though pricing for the S-Series desktops has yet to be revealed, the E-Series laptops will be available for sale beginning in November and will start at $479 and go up to $549.
