Five Hidden Risks with Public Cloud Usage

As a provider of services for managing Amazon Web Services (AWS) deployments, Cloudnexa has emerged as a significant force in an IT services cottage industry that has sprung up around AWS. At the AWS Summit in New York today, Cloudnexa announced that it is opening up the network operations center (NOC) it developed to deliver those services to internal IT organizations.

Cloudnexa CEO Joel Davne says that the company’s customers have been asking to make use of the Cloudnexa vNOC cloud management platform to provision and manage instances of AWS themselves.

As a certified AWS partner, Cloudnexa provides managed services for AWS using the same pay-as-you-go model that AWS uses to deliver IT services. Davne says this approach not only mirrors how AWS wants to pay for IT these days, but it also winds up costing significantly less than traditional IT services that require organizations to make service fee commitments for an extended period of time.

Now, Cloudnexa wants to extend its customer base by opening its NOC to customers that have enough internal cloud management expertise, but maybe don’t have the time or resources required to build a dedicated NOC for AWS.

With the rise of AWS in the enterprise, most IT organizations are either trying to integrate AWS into their daily operations, isolate it as a distinct IT environment that they manage separately, or contract someone else to manage it on their behalf. Regardless of the approach, it’s clear that the number of workloads running on AWS is growing a rapid rate, which from a management perspective means that many IT organizations can no longer afford to ignore the largest provider of cloud services on the planet.
