ITIL Certification Still Tops List of Ideal Certs for IT Pros

Though certifications haven’t been in the news as much this year, indicators still show that they will remain important in the coming year for hiring managers. One particular certification that shows up in the top 10 on most every must-have-for-IT list is ITIL certification.

Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) certification trains its students to follow a stringent model for IT service management. Its processes follow the complete life cycle of IT service. The certification offers four levels of study:

    • Foundation
    • Intermediate
    • Expert
    • Master

ITIL is one of the top certifications sought after for IT staff. It assures hiring managers that the certified student has learned the best practices for planning and supporting the IT organization. The ITIL processes provide proven paths to business improvements, reduced costs, and higher customer ratings and productivity.

IT workers who are unfamiliar with the ITIL practices have many options for learning about the processes. In fact, our IT Downloads provides a couple of informative documents that can better explain its background and techniques.

The “ITIL Easy Explanation Fact Sheet,” provides a detailed explanation of ITIL and its methods. It explains the service life cycle and the objective of ITIL version 3.

‘ITIL Capacity Management’ Excerpt” is a short section from an ITIL book from IBM Press Books. The chapter six excerpt covers the elimination of waste and over-purchasing for IT organizations and ways to bring down equipment costs and reduce the cost of staffing, as well.

Reading through these two downloads will give IT professionals who are considering obtaining an ITIL certification or those who are interested in learning the ways of ITIL a great introduction to the methods the approach uses to streamline the running of IT within the business.
